biography | resume
Danielle learned how to shoot and process film at Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY where she received her Associate's Degree in fine arts. While at NCC, she photographed with a 35mm, medium format, and 4x5 camera. She also learned how to shoot and print digitally. Danielle pursued her education at SUNY Purchase College in Purchase, NY, where she received her Bachelor's Degree from the School of Visual Arts.
While at Purchase, she continued shooting film and digital and was introduced to alternate printing methods. She shot digitally, producing digital negatives to make cyanotype and palladium prints. Danielle found this method to be visually and physically expressive. There is a handmade feel that presents a more painterly quality to the prints.
She loves to travel with her camera and photograph nature and wildlife. She has a deep respect for the environment and hopes that her images will encourage people to care more about their environment. She also likes to photograph the human form. Her most recent interest lies in tattoos. Every tattoo has a story whether it is a symbol for someone who has passed away or a passion that someone has. Recently, she is photographing groups of people highlighting their tattoos in a collage of body parts to show the unity that tattoos bring.
When shooting portraits of people, pets, and other wildlife, she likes to use both natural and artificial light. Whether shooting subjects in the home or outdoors, her goal is to capture the mood of that particular time in the life of the subject.
